News: Man beaten at Valleyfair for protecting daughter

By Chip

Jul. 17th, 2008 -- A man was severely beaten July 4 trying to protect his daughter as his family left Valleyfair.

Eight people are accused of kicking the 41-year-old man's head. He was knocked out, and his wife and daughters tried to protect him.

His wife says he was trying to protect their daughter from being molested. The family is not being identified because she fears for their safety.

Valleyfair says 22 security guards were on duty the evening of the assault.

Police arrested seven of the suspects that day, and the eighth got away. The six men and 14-year-old boy were charged with third-degree felony assault.
