Big Thunder Mountain Railroad incident cause released to public
11/27/2003

The state report, in which the cause of the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad incident at Disneyland is noted, where a male rider was killed, was released Wednesday.

State investigators cited improper maintenance and poor training of the operators for guidelines for situations like when the ride makes an unusual noise. They also say that outside machinists either failed to understand or follow the maintenance procedures for the park.

This mirrors a statement Disney made about the ride, saying the accident was caused by poor maintenance. The ride remains closed.
