I do NOT feel sorry at all for this kid. What an idiot. This was a common sense that this kid was never instilled with.
I feel bad for the park on this one.
Did anyone on the train get injured because of this kids stupid ass actions?

I would think someone would have had a broken foot or leg unless it was the steel part of the train that got his head.
All i can do is laugh at this but hope nobody on the ride was injured.

I am assuming a rider was injured (broken foot/leg injury).
Paramount's Great America had a very similar incident back in 1999 when someone hopped a fence to retrieve a lost hat beneath Top Gun and he was struck in the head by the foot of a rider on Top Gun as the train passed overhead. He wasn't decapitated, but the force of impact killed him instantly.
FYI, more news leaked in about this story. The boy was 17 years old (high school Junior). MORON.

Ok, I understand that this is clearly the kids fault but is it really right to laugh at his decapitation? Just think of all those affected by it.

Well, even if what he did was stupid, I feel sorry for everyone, because I feel everyone's life has worth. Doesn't excuse what he did though, and I feel more sorry for his family and the park than anything. His family will probably be told they raised an idiot and that they did their job as parents wrong both by the enthusiast community and the news media, and the park will either be sued or the news media will say this shouldn't be able to happen.
This reminds me of the video of the kid getting his hat back from the water of the Jurassic Park ride... by jumping the fence and going in the middle of the track.

But hey here's the bright side of this: he'll most likely get a Darwin award. Also another good fact to look at, the world's I.Q. has just gone up a little bit.

Ironically I was going to go to SFoG today too, but because of possible inclement weather I backed out of it. This is sad, but at the same time it is complete stupidity too. This happened before at another park and the person on the ride broke their leg cause of the impact so I'm guessing something similar happened here too. I bet in 4 months you will hear about a lawsuit too, which is just pure pathetic. My heart goes out to the kids family, but at the same time he should of known better.

^Might be true, but local news stations will say anything to get listeners, viewers or readers.
I can just see how channel 6 in Richmond, VA would have handled this five years ago. They would have laughed and made jokes, as they did with murders. It was quite sick that news station, but sadly amusing.

Think about when you were 17 or younger. How many daring or stupid things did you do to impress someone or as a dare, but you did not get killed. He may have wanted to recover a cell phone or money that dropped out of his pocket. Maybe he did it as a dare. I hate it for family, friends, etc. I am sure he was doing an adolescent thing and was not thinking at all. Some people are very mature and grown up at 17 and others are not. Obviously there are still some adolescents that are posting here, thinking this was funny and he deserved this. The next time you are speeding I hope you hit a tree and die because you deserve it. The next time you over eat I hope you choke on your last bite and die because you deserve it. The next time you decide to get too drunk, I hope you die of alcohol poisoning because you deserve it. The next time you have adulterated sex I hope you get a STD and die from it because you deserve it. Get it?

Bratman, until there is official comment on it, we only make mention that some sources indicate that he was decapitated. Now that all sources are in line, we can say that he was.
Also, soccergiant, I have no idea what point you're really trying to make, but if you do stupid things, consequences happen. Whether they are minor (say like getting caught and kicked out of the park) or major (getting decapitated), chances are, it'll happen. If nothing happens, and you escape without consequence, you're just lucky at that moment. Basically, there's risks with everything. There's good risks, and there's stupid risks. This was, by far, a very stupid risk. My sympathy goes to the family of the kid, but not to the kid himself.

Soccergiant, I can understand your sentiment that while the loss of life is sad and that the exact reason for this happening is not known. And laughing about it is probably a bit borderline.
While there is nothing wrong with taking dares, etc....I think a lot of people do not realize that with somethings, comes a very high price or the potential of a high price. Take Russian Roulette for example. For 5 people it may be a game, but for that 1...it is a lot more than a game.
And as an enthusiast, I can notice all the work that has gone in to making things safe. The parks hang signs, using fencing, lock-outs, etc. There is a reason they go to such extremes...and as guests at parks, that very real potential for risks needs to be understood.
Now I feel sorry for the young man's family, and I also feel bad for the park, because no matter whether an incident is the park's fault or a guest's fault (which this is apparently), it still is negative publicity.
I will not go so far as to say that the young man per se, ultimately deserved what he got, but it was a risk that he took, and he should have realized it. So in a sense, he did deserve what he got - making contact with the ride - but not dieing per se. If you go out of your way to get somewhere that every reasonable attempt is meant to refrain you from, then what does one expect?

I found it Ironic that he was with a Church Group.
I'm kinda speechless on this one. I don't feel sorry for him yet I do. What he did, I think we all agree on, was Stupid! Does anyone know this kids mental status? Was he really, really mentally retarded, if not REALLY bad, in some way, shape, or form? Or was he just really retarded!?!? If he was mentally Ill, then yes, I do feel bad for this kid and his family, otherwise, Idk what to think about this.
Let's all pray for the family because Idk if god sees this as suicide, and we all know what happens to the suicidal people, or if he just sees it as stupidity and will overlook it. Nevertheless, let's pray for him and his family. Alright

Soccergiant, you're an idiot. I hope your first post was also your last post. You criticise people for speaking negatively about the boy getting killed but yet go on to wish others dead and say they deserve it?
I'd possibly feel bad for the kid despite being stupid but if it's true that he was trying to jump to grab innocent rider's feet, than he got what he deserved. What if he had managed to grab a rider's foot, what could've happened to that rider? The rider could've been seriously hurt or worse. What would you have to say then?

It shocks me how stupid people are these days, oh wait, I guess it shouldn't.
I was truly shocked when I read this story, and that's saying a lot cause you'd think that after all these stories of how stupid people are, it would get old.
How in the world does a teenager not think "Hey, a roller coaster going 50 mph isn't going to hurt me at all if I jump in front of it!"
Unfortunately now we'll have to hear stupid enthusiast jokes about Batman for the next few years like after the girl got killed on Raven.
I feel bad for the family of the kid though. That's awful.
