News: Woman hurt in fall at Darien Lake

Posted at 1:49 PM EDT (1749 GMT)

Aug. 19th, 2008 -- A woman was hurt when she fell about 10 feet from the station of MotoCoaster.

The woman got on the ride but then got off because she wasn't feeling well, a park spokesman said. As she got off, she fell 10 feet.

Park employees took her to an area hospital to be evaluated.

No further information was available.

Orange County Choppers MotoCoaster opened this season. It is a Zamperla launched motorcycle-type roller coaster. It's 44 feet tall and goes 38 mph over nearly 1,200 feet of track.

This is the kind of stuff that shouldn't be reported. It isn't newsworthy and its questionable if it is relevant to the safety of the ride.

Is ThrillNetwork pro-Amusement Park -OR- anti-Amusement Park?

You're just stirring the fragile pot on amusement ride safety. She fell because she wasn't feeling well and she got off the ride when she wasn't supposed to get off this ride.

Thousands of people have already ridden these attractions WITHOUT incident this summer. The ride is clearly safe.

If she wasn't feeling well then she shouldn't have gotten on the ride in the first place. I've found that often people don't feel well at amusement parks because they don't drink enough water or eat enough food.

Stop reporting nonsense like this. You're wasting our time and even worse you're damaging the amusement park industry!

The article never says the ride is unsafe nor does it imply that. This site reports news. This was in the news, so it was posted.

A picture shows that there is a slight drop off the front of the station. I wonder if she got in the front car and then decided not to ride. Instead of going down the exit, it sounds like she went to the front of the station and fell.

All4thx, I think its rediculous that your chastising TN for reporting this. It in no way paints a negative picture for ride safety. It was simply an accident. Even if it was more than that, it should still be posted here, because the site is for ride enthusiasts! THe people here that visit this site are not your usual GP. We want to know what happens. If you don't then you need to cancel your membership.

This is NOT quality news. This is garbage news. This type of reporting is the same thing these idiots do at - http://www.amusementsafety.org/ />
The ASO gets the press behind reports exactly like this to say that amusement parks and rides are unsafe. You both clearly don't understand my point.

Chip, maybe you should start hanging out near the First Aid office at your local park so every time someone walks in with a scrapped knee from a trip and fall you can report about it here on ThrillNetwork.

This is not newsworthy and you shouldn't DEGRADE this site anymore by defending your poor choice of stories to post. Oh, but I forgot... TN is run mainly by unpaid, teenage children and in that case I probably should cut you a break.

All4thx you may have just lost your account on TN plus banned. Chip is one of the people who help run this site and if you dont like anything posted on here then you need to leave. Your just a rookie amoung us major league posters. Nobody on this site likes anyone who makes fun of the people or storys on here. And i think the only teenager on here seems to be you.

Major league poster with a post count of 284? Really?

If this site bans people for expressing their opinion in a proper manner then it will fail. Criticism is a way of life. You either learn to deal with it or you have a difficult life.

Finally, you don't need to bow down to the people who run this site. That status earns some respect, but I'm not going to act like a pathetic POS and I'm not a "yes man".

Just keep in mind how you acted when you seen this story then. I bet if she was a family member of yours you wouldnt be saying the stuff you did. We have to keep in mind who reads the storys on TN. Family members do read these and the words said if bad by the posters only add to the pain and make the site look bad. The actions of one man or woman that are bad only label them on what they did wrong. And as far as respect, you have earned none from me all4thx.
