Get Rid of Stuckness Once and for All!

I am a single WAHM or work at home mom. My motivation is my children. I have a passion to succeed at my home based candle business so I can home school my children one of which has a learning disability. Just because I have a strong motivation does not mean I don’t get stuck once in a while. Here are 10 things I do before and when I reach the stuckness stage.

1. Don’t wait until the day has already started to work on your motivation. As soon as you wake up lay there and think about some of the things you’re thankful for. I do this even when I’m sick, my head is spinning, and I feel like I’m dying. Especially when I feel that way because it’s easier to get pulled down into the doldrums when I’m sick. It’s easy to think of things to be thankful for. I always start with my eyes; I have my eyes to see my beautiful children. I’m thankful for my legs, I can walk. I’m thankful for my arms; I can hug my children. There’s really so much to be thankful for! I’m thankful to the movie The Secret for teaching me the utter common sense of being thankful. It’s so simple!

2. When I go to the bathroom and look at myself in the mirror I always smile at myself. Always. And yes, I do as Louise Hay says, I tell myself that I Love Me! I do these things first thing in the morning to form a kind of positive aura around me so I don’t get so “stuck” that I end up not doing the important things of my business.

3. I have a cup of coffee every morning and as I drink my coffee I watch something inspiring. There are so many videos on YouTube you can look up. One I like especially is one that Priscilla Parham put together titled “Affirmations.” She along with John Assaraf inspired me to put together my own Vision Board Slide Show Presentations. I watch these every morning with my coffee. During this time I also close my eyes and envision something I really want, like taking my children to Disneyland. I envision us riding through Pirate’s of the Caribbean or through the Haunted House.

4. I write down on a piece of paper the things I know I need to do for the day in no particular order. I know what’s most important and that’s my leads. Calling my leads and sending them requested information. I cross these tasks out as I accomplish them and anything I haven’t done I put for the next day.

5. I do something, anything, just move and be productive even if it’s not business oriented. If I have too many ideas and they’re swirling in my head to where I don’t know where to start, I take a break. I go and bake cookies or start a load of laundry or wash the dishes. As I do that I sort out what I should do first and then I go back to work. Otherwise, I’m trying to do all of it at once and get nothing done!

6. I hum! Yes, I wrote about this phenomenon on my blog. My children taught me to hum! Humming relaxes me, especially if my head is jammed with ideas and I’m having difficulty sorting them out, which one to do first?

7. I’ve learned to be flexible. I just can’t do it. Stick to a rigid schedule. It really grates at me when the house is dirty and I’m trying to work on an idea. See, like right now, I’m doing this writing and I’ve washed the dishes, 2 loads of clothes, and baked 1 batch of Peanut Butter Cookies. And I still got my lead work out, I worked on my slide show of t-shirt designs I created, I visited the forums and groups I like and added what I could. I got quite a lot done today. And it’s still not over yet. I intend to design more shirts when I’m done here and get a couple of crafts done too.

8. I purposefully look up things that’ll make me laugh. 15 minutes a day doing this will not put you behind your business. I Love to laugh and there are some funny witty quotes and sayings on a lot of different websites! Laughing releases the good chemical stuff in the brain.

9. I drink lots and lots of water! Helps me with my energy somehow.

10. Because I drink lots and lots of water, I go to the bathroom lots and lots of times, and so, I have books in the bathroom that I read, a sentence here, sentence there. I make sure I get off by about 7pm (in between I cook dinner or we go to MacDonald’s) so I can visit with my children. We Love to watch movies together, and yes, they always ask thousands of questions!
