How To Make Your Disneyland Vacation More Affordable

How To Make Your Disneyland Vacation More Affordable

Ask any kid what their dream vacation is, and I’m sure going to Disneyland or Disney World is most likely one of them. Being the world’s most popular theme park, children simply love the cartoon characters, rides and attractions at Disneyland. Even adults. While most families would love having a vacation there, it’s undeniable that it can be incredibly expensive. More so if you factor in hotel, food, gifts and other necessary expenses.

Actually, A Disney World Vaction Doesn’t Have To Be Expensive

Yes! With some proper planning, you can actually save a lot. Let’s illustrate this with an example. Assuming your plan is to spend 5 days at the park, buying Disney World theme park tickets for each day will set you back by around $ 315 per pax (for those aged 10 and above) or $ 260 (for those between 3-9).

But if you just get a 5 day ticket, you will only fork out about $ 200 or $ 162 per pax respectively! Should you get your tickets way in advance, you will also enjoy more savings than buying them at the gate. Bear in mind that the figures in the illustrations above are subject to change so always remember to check for the current prices before making your decisions.

Here are some other ways to save on your disneyland magical adventure :

(1) Get Your Tickets In Advance On Disney’s Official Website

As mentioned earlier, getting tickets before arriving at the gate helps you save a good deal off the price. Not only will you save at least $ 40 off each ticket when you get them 8 days before your arrival date, you may also be entitled to an early admission to the parks (depending on the ticket purchased and also subject to conditions). While you’re on the website, do remember to check if Disneyland has any special promotions running during your travelling schedule. Who knows? You may end up saving much more than you thought!

(2) Stay At Disneyland Affiliated Hotels

Well, despite the higher room rates, Disneyland affiliated hotels offer many package deals that are way more economical if you do your sums right. Most, if not all of the deals include single or multi-day park hopper passes and that alone is a great saving! Besides, staying at such hotels can enhance your vacation experience since they’re within such close promixity to the parks.

Another saving tip. Should you choose not to stay at any of the Disney Hotels and decide to just go for a nearby hotel, check out Disneyland’s “Good Neighbour Hotels” scheme to see if your hotel is in the list. Booking the hotel through the program can also save you some money.

(3) Special Privileges For Southern California Residents & Military Personnel

Do you know that if you’re a Southern California resident, you’re also entitled to special savings off disneyland tickets? A family of four with 2 kids can trim off a couple of hundreds with the Southern California Select Annual Passports (as opposed to 2 separate single day passes) if they’re flexible about the days they can attend.

People with a military affiliation or background can also enjoy huge discounts on Disneyland tickets. So do remember to check if anyone in your travelling group has that special privilege!

(4) Multi Theme Parks Advantage

If your itinerary includes other theme parks within the area (such as Universal Studios Hollywood and Sea World Adventure Park), buy a Southern California City Pass. Why? Because other than a bonus 3 day pass to Disneyland park hopper ticket, you also get access to the Universal Studios, Sea World and your choice of either the World-Famous San Diego Zoo or the San Diego Zoo’s Wild Animal Park.

(5) Buy Unutilized Tickets or Passes Via Online Forums, Classifieds, Auctions

If you don’t mind doing a bit of research, some online surfing may land you surprise bargains. On some auction sites such as eBay or classifieds such as Craiglist, people are selling their untilized or unwanted passes for a fraction of what you’re paying on the official Disney site. Not only is it a great way to get some cheap Disneyland tickets, you will find yourself infected with the holiday mood while scouring through the listings – an added bonus!
