Man accused of breaking into vehicles at Six Flags

Marietta police accuse a man of breaking into vehicles at Six Flags White Water and then sending them on a chase after him.

Michael Hoosier, of Stone Mountain, was arrested early Sunday on multiple counts of financial fraud, reckless driving and fleeing an officer, according to Cobb County jail records.

Several people visiting the water park Saturday said their vehicles had been broken into, the agency said. About two hours after putting out a notice to be on alert, cops were told a stolen item was tracked to a vehicle parked at Merchants Walk Shopping Plaza.

The vehicle sped off as the cops approached but flattened its tires by running over curbs.

Hoosier and a second suspect got out of the vehicle and ran, cops said. Officers tracked Hoosier with a K-9 to an elevator in a business park on Johnson Ferry Road.

Along the way, they found a cloth bag containing multiple items reported as stolen.

With a warrant, investigators searched the vehicle with the flat tires and a home on Allgood Road.

Cops found the rest of what was reported as stolen from White Water and “numerous other (items reported in) open cases in both jurisdictions,” including multiple guns.

“Detectives from Cobb and Marietta are still working this active and ongoing case … A second suspect may be identified at a later date,” Marietta police spokesman Charles McPhilamy said when asked about the other suspect.

Hoosier remained in jail with a $60,000 bond, records showed Wednesday afternoon.
