What Is So Special About Disney’s Aladdin?

Every full length Disney cartoon movie is almost a classic. Since the days of Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs, the Disney studios have had audiences spell bound with their highly entertaining and breathtaking adaptations of some of the best loved fairy tales.

Disney’s Aladdin is one such film which is extremely entertaining for kids and adults alike. The plot, the narrative, the screenplay and the various twists and turns in the movie are truly delightful. From beginning to end, audiences are kept guessing what would come up next. There is never a dull moment in this thoroughly fascinating family entertainer.

Robin Williams as the genie is perhaps the highlight of the movie. His wonderful voice talent shines through the performance of the endearing genie. The chemistry between Aladdin and the genie is humorous and amusing. Apart from Robin Williams, the other voice talents include Scott Weinger as Aladdin, Linda Larkin as Princess Jasmine, Jonathan Freeman as Jafar, and Douglas Seale as the Sultan.

Another highlight in Disney’s Aladdin is the background score by Alan Menken. As in all Disney movies, the background score blends so well with the visuals that it is sometimes totally forgotten by the audience. Songs are another powerful ingredient in cartoon movies. Especially the song “A Whole New World” sung by Brad Kane and Lea Salonga is probably the best in the movie. The song was composed by Alan Menken and the lyrics were penned by Tim Rice. The song went on to win an Oscar at the Academy Awards. It is sung by the principal characters in the movie, Aladdin and Jasmine, as they explore the world together in a flying carpet.

The Disney studios have been constantly improving their animation techniques over the years. The breathtaking visuals and the impeccable animation really show the amount of time and effort that the artists have put into this wonderful movie. The fast-paced action sequences, the witty comedy scenes, the fluid romantic sequences, and the dramatic climatic battle between the principal characters in the movie are brought out with such convincing realism, that audiences would often forget that they are watching an animated movie.

Like every fairy tale, Aladdin also has its own moral behind the story. Disney does a great job of bringing out the moral of the story in a very entertaining and fascinating way. Kids especially would almost never forget the experience of watching this delightful and highly entertaining masterpiece.
