Rain Or Shine, Indoor Water Parks Are Fun Any Time {image]

For those people that love water parks and are disappointed every year when September rolls around and they close up for the season, indoor water parks have come to the rescue. Now, you can enjoy all of your favorite water park activities all year round.

Indoor water facilities have always been a pleasurable place to socialize and have fun. Although water parks have not always had lazy rivers and wave pools, people have always used indoor aquatic facilities as a means to experience fun in the water, no matter what the season is.

Technically, indoor water parks started in Alberta, Canada in 1985. However, they have been around for a long time. Just look at the Roman baths; perhaps the first indoor water parks, albeit without the tube rides.

Indoor swimming pools have been popular for years. Indoor pools have existed in hotels and community center, such as the YMCA for the most part. Some gyms have even offered indoor pools for their members to use. Sometimes, the pools even had slides to give people even more fun activities to do with the water.

Today, indoor water parks are kind of an extension of the indoor swimming pool concept. Of course, there are a few differences. For one thing, there is generally very little swimming going on in them. Plus, you can find more than just slides. Some indoor water parks even offer water roller coasters.

Although the first indoor water park wasn’t built in the United States until 1985, its location in Wisconsin has now become the premier headquarters for indoor water parks.

Sometimes the water parks are part of a resort and only the people staying there can use them. In Sevierville, Tennessee, there is a resort that offers poolside cabanas in their water park. More and more resorts are offering the water parks as incentives for their guests.

For those that are not part of a resort, you can expect to get a reasonable rate at most of the parks. Rates vary, but you can generally expect to pay around $ 15 on average for a day of fun. Of course, if it offers a lot of attractions you might pay a little bit more.

If you live in an area that gets cold in the wintertime and doesn’t allow you to swim outdoors, or visit an outdoor water park in the cold months, than an indoor water park can be a godsend. It’s a fun alternative to going to the movies or any other kind of indoor recreational activity. Since the temperature hovers around 80 degrees year round, you never have to worry about what the outside temperature is.

During bad weather is also a good time to visit water parks. It doesn’t matter of it’s raining or overcast, the weather is always perfect indoors! This can be a good option in the summertime when the temperature should be a good time play outside in the water, but the weather just won’t cooperate.

Not only are indoor water parks an economical way to spend quality time with family and friends, but for an afternoon you can even feel like you’ve got a little bit of summertime.
