PHOTOS, REVIEW: Skeleton Bar’s Mango Inferno Burns Bridges at Universal Orlando Resort

We returned to Skeleton Bar at Universal Studios Florida to try another cocktail with hopes that the Mango Inferno would fare better than the Circus Peanut Butter Whiskey Cocktail we reviewed recently.

Skeleton Bar serves as Cafe La Bamba’s new Halloween experience. In the spirit of celebrating Halloween and trying new cocktails, we ordered the Mango Inferno and prepared to be delighted.

Jus look as the deep, rich color and the jalopeño slice garnish. The simple presentation readied our taste buds for flavor.

The Mango Inferno naturally conjured the Halloween spirit, especially with a grinning skeleton in the background.

The bartender prepared the Mango Inferno with El Jimador Blanco tequila, mango juice, yellow curry powder, lime juice, agave nectar, and salt. It sounded like a wonderful blend of flavors meant so provide a spicy edge with a nice tequila kick.

After sipping the drink, we were immediately surprised by the flavors. On the drink menu, the ingredients enticed us with promises of a satisfying cocktail. In reality, the Mango Inferno tasted awful.

We enjoy spicy drinks quite a bit, however, this cocktail tasted like watery mango salsa. The sweet mango mixing with the curry seasoning overpowered the senses, making the whole beverage unpalatable. We’ll usually finish a cocktail to experience the full range of flavors, but this one belonged in the trash can.

In our opinion, we would rather be thrown into a mango inferno than drink the Mango Inferno. The drink costs $12.50, but we don’t think it’s worth the money. Naturally, if you want to taste this one for yourselves and you have $12.50 to burn, feel free to find the Mango Inferno at Skeleton Bar in Universal Studios Florida.
