Walt Disney Swan and Dolphin Resort Hotels:Not Just Interesting Architecture

If you have ever driven through the Walt Disney World resort property, you are certainly familiar with some of the well-known landmarks. Cinderella’s Castle at the Magic Kingdom, Spaceship Earth (the “golf ball”) at Epcot, and Hollywood Studio’s Tower of Terror all are readily recognizable by the millions of Disney vacationers each year. Yet there are two more Disney landmarks that you can’t miss when visiting Disney World and yet they may very well be the “hidden gems” of Walt Disney World: The Walt Disney Swan and Dolphin resort hotels.

The Walt Disney Swan and Dolphin resorts are actually owned by Starwood, the parent company of the Sheraton and Westin hotels. However, they are on Disney property, and as such, there are a number of great benefits available to guests who stay there. The first is the convenient location: the Swan and Dolphin are just a short walk or boat ride from both Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. And that is just the beginning of a host of other great benefits.

The Swan and Dolphin each have a very distinctive architectural exterior, and beautiful interiors and landscaping. Designed by award-winning architect Michael Graves, the resorts are decorated beautifully, with a fabulous shared pool, and many luxurious amenities that are on a par with the Disney deluxe properties.

In addition, there are a number of full-service restaurants and lounges, in all price ranges, tastes, and styles.

One of the nicest aspects of the Swan and Dolphin is that guests, while not technically Disney resort guests, still enjoy many Disney resort perks. Transportation and location have already been mentioned. In addition, guests of the Swan and Dolphin can participate in the Extra Magic Hours program, get free parking at the theme parks, and can get package delivery from the parks to the hotel.

And then there are the beds. If you have ever stayed at any Westin property, you may be familiar with the “Heavenly Beds”, each of which include a pillow top mattress, triple sheets, down blanket and comforter, and goose down/feather pillows. Let me just say that after a long day at the Disney parks, relaxing in one of the Swan or Dolphin’s Heavenly Beds is just heavenly!

While the Swan and Dolphin are considered “deluxe” resorts, since they are not truly Disney properties, their prices are usually less than any of the comparable Disney resorts. And if you are a Florida resident, senior citizen, government employee, member of the military, nurse, or teacher, you may very well qualify for a discount!

Discover the Walt Disney Swan and Dolphin resort on your next Disney vacation. With a great location, a host of superb benefits, a lovely property, Disney guest perks, and a great value, you will not be disappointed in what you find.
