Cedar Point coaster named one of the six scariest in America

SANDUSKY, OH – It’s tall, it’s fast and it has the most airtime of any coaster in the world. Steel Vengeance has just been named one of the six scariest coasters in America.

“Ride this one before lunch, not after.” That’s what Reader’s Digest said about Cedar Point’s newest coaster on its list. “Comprised of a wood structure below and a smooth steel track above, part of what sets the Steel Vengeance apart is its path. Standing 205 feet tall and reaching speeds of 74 mph, it features a 90-degree drop, almost 30 seconds of airtime (more than any other coaster in the world), and four head-over-boots inversions.”

Because of all of that, Reader’s Digest is now letting the rest of the country know what we at MLive already showed you, the ride is not only scary, but it’s one of the best in the country. It’s relentless with its maintained speed throughout, surprise twists and turns and incredible amount of airtime, making for a non-stop thrill from the second you sit down to the second you return to the gate.

EVERYTHING NEW AT CEDAR POINT FOR 2018

Steel Vengeance holds 10 world records, but it hasn’t been without its bugs since debuting on May 5, 2018. The ride had only been operating with only one of its three trains after an accident on opening day when one of the trains “lightly bumped” a parked train in the loading station. As of June 1, it began operating with two trains. It is also back on Fast Lane Plus tickets.

The other five coasters on the Reader’s Digest scariest coasters in America list are: Kingda Ka at Six Flags in New Jersey, Full Throttle at Six Flags in Los Angeles, Time Traveler at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Twisted Timbers at Kings Dominion in Doswell, Va and SheiKra at Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay.
