Universal Orlando Close Up | Behind the Design: Universal’s Aventura Hotel Interior Design

Earlier this year, I shared with you the sleek and simple exterior design details of Universal’s Aventura Hotel. Now I’m excited to take you through the details of the stylish interior design.

When you enter the lobby, you’ll immediately be immersed in the modern design of this vibrant and relaxed hotel. Polished concrete floors flow throughout the lobby while warm woods surround you in the registration desk and elevator lobby. In keeping with the modern design, the lobby, Starbucks, and food hall all reside within one open lobby building. We used flooring transitions to carpet and terrazzo as well as glass partitions to break the spaces up, giving each its own identity.

Past the registration desk, you will encounter Starbucks and the lobby bar. We wanted them to tie together but still look distinct from one another. The lobby bar is made entirely of a slick white solid surface and is accented by a white chandelier overhead comprised of 327 light fixtures. Across the way, Starbucks uses white in a chevron tile but introduces light woods and dark accents to stand apart.

Following the polished concrete floors through, you’ll find the food hall where you can enjoy globally inspired cuisines made from fresh ingredients. Reminiscent of a local food market, the four different food venues feature butcher block and are distinguished by paint colors and signage. The beige, green and black chairs that mingle with white and wood tables in the food hall continue out to the patio for outdoor dining.

In the guestrooms, the polished concrete floors are switched for warm wood look floors. The predominately white and black design is accented by rich colors of pumpkin, eggplant, and sky blue. Feature lighting on the top of the headboard illuminates the faint purple wallcovering on the headboard wall. Shimmery gray sheer curtains frame the floor to ceiling views from your window.

The modern and relaxing design continues into the guestroom bathrooms where the details are spa-like. The white and clean lines make the area feel more spacious while the thoughtful design of the vanity provides ample storage. Glass dividers trimmed with black metal are used not only to separate the bedroom and bathroom areas but also add visual interest. The bathroom features a pocket door, separating the bathroom vanity from the shower, so the whole family can get ready at the same time.

When you’re ready for dinner and drinks with a view, take the elevator up 17 floors to Bar 17 Bistro. We wanted the open air rooftop bar to have the comfortable feeling of a modern lounge. Gray and white pavers alternate in sweeping patterns and provide an anchor to the wood and stone bar. The furniture is a collection of bar, dining, and lounge seating, giving options for our guests. Lime and grass greens are brought into the lounge seating to provide a pop of color.
